Manthali Secondary School was established in the name of ‘Mahendra Vidhya Mandir’ on the day of Rishitarpani on 12thAsoj, 2012 B.S. Its founder was then educationist, social reformer and politician Hridaya Raj Sharma, and founder principal was Shankar Prasad Satyal.
Citing the proud history of the school, it is found that the school had got the approval to run up to class 5 in 2031B.S. and up to class 7 in 2033 B.S. Similarly, it got permission for class 7 in 2034 B.S., then operated class 8 in 2040 B.S. and continued the attempts to run the educational activities in a better way. From 2049 B.S. and 2052 B.S. it was enabled to upgrade +2 and secondary level programs respectively. With the restoration of democracy in 2046 B.S. and the transference of the headquarters of the district from Ramechhap Bazaar to Manthali, the school was also shifted from Bhanjyang area to Manthali Khandbari Toll, its present location. The school has conducted the classes to infants within the school premises. Similarly, classes 1 to 12 have been conducted at the secondary level in education, humanities, management, and science streams. From academic session 2074, classes 4 to 10 have been conducted in both Nepali and English mediums.
Sanimadau Community Forest Consumers Committee has granted 45 ropanis of land to Manthali school in its full ownership. Recently the community forest has added 11 ropanis of land to school from Manthali Municipality-1, Khandbari east side, as per the requirement of the school to expand its infrastructures. Till date the school has made a leap forward in its academic, physical and managerial development with the help of various organizations, academicians, business persons and local, provincial, and federal bodies of Nepal government.
At present the school has its own three school buses in operation and it has a wide range of media outlets. The school is well known as a broad educational centre to educate thousands of students from basic level to +2 level including Pre-diploma and Civil Diploma programs (civil and electrical) in technical stream. Serving higher level education in multiple faculties and subjects (Science, Management, Humanities and Education), situating at the heart of district headquarters of the district, Manthali, it has been able to maintain quality education with the recognition of the Model Community School of the government of Nepal. Undoubtedly, it is embarking on its distant educational journey for quality improvement of the community schools of the district and the entire country. Regarding it, the Model School Improvement Master Plan has significantly contributed and it has proved to be a cornerstone of community school development.
